Ancillary Studies
The mission of the TRIGR Study Group is to explore whether delaying exposure to complex foreign proteins will decrease the risk of type 1 diabetes in children having a family member who is affected by type 1 diabetes and having increased genetic susceptibility to the disease. Ancillary studies that complement and enhance the value of the core TRIGR Study are encouraged. Such studies should augment and protect – and must not interfere with – the continued interests and participation of TRIGR subjects and their families and of TRIGR investigators.
Proposed ancillary studies will be evaluated with careful consideration of their potential impact on the objectives and performance of the core TRIGR Study. To protect the interests of the TRIGR Study, each proposed ancillary study must be individually reviewed and approved by the TRIGR Scientific Advisory and Ancillary Studies Committee, as well as by TRIGR's International Executive Committee, before initiation.
The proponent(s) of an ancillary study must have representation in the TRIGR Study Group. This requirement is satisfied if one of the proponents is a member of the TRIGR Study Group or if a member of the TRIGR Study Group agrees to provide liaison with the proponent(s). Ancillary studies must be funded from sources other than funds provided to the TSG for execution of the core TRIGR protocol.
Each approved ancillary study must be reviewed yearly by the TRIGR Scientific Advisory and Ancillary Studies Committee to evaluate its progress and impact on the core TRIGR Study as a whole.
TRIGR Study welcomes the submission of proposed ancillary studies as an adjunct to the ongoing TRIGR protocol.
